Admiring the Stars | D. Malfoy
The Weasley's, including Harry, yourself, and Will, gathered near the fireplace to go to Diagon Alley. You stand, awaiting instructions from Mrs. Weasley to see what order everyone would go by.
"You first, Harry dear." Molly offered him the flowerpot holding the Weasley family's stash of floo powder. Harry seemed confused and just stared at the dust.
"Harry's never traveled by Floo Powder before, Mum." Ron spoke for Harry.
Harry kept up his confused stare and proceeded to look around at everyone else's faces to see if they did not understand this as well. Molly just smiled at him and sent Ron first, showing Harry how it was done.
Harry stepped up to the fireplace, grabbing a small handful of Floo Powder.
"Remember to speak very clearly, dear!" Molly encouraged.
Harry nodded, obviously unsure about what he's about to perform, "DIAGONALLY!"
"Did— did he say... Diagonally?"
You smacked your forehead as you stepped up to the fireplace next, 'It's not that hard to say words correctly. No wonder Harry isn't a Ravenclaw.'
You grabbed a small handful of Floo Powder, feeling the grains sift through your fingers slightly, you clearly state, "Diagon Alley!" You see the many exit ports that make up Diagon Alley and only stepped out when you saw Ron. The store had random trinkets lining the shelves, and Ron was busying himself with touching everything he saw.
You waited for every other Weasley to make their way through the fireplace before everyone started the search for the now missing Harry Potter.
It didn't take you long to find him walking around with Hagrid and Hermione in tow. You walked up to them, scolding Harry for pronouncing Diagon Alley wrong. Then, you led everyone back to the Weasleys as Hagrid explained to you that Harry was walking around Knockturn Alley.
You really didn't care where Harry went off to; you just wanted to get him back to the Weasley's, so they didn't think that they lost the poor boy.
You spotted the redheads from several meters away and tugged on Molly's sleeve, "Mrs. Weasley, I found Harry. He was apparently in Knockturn Alley when Hagrid found him."
She gasped and turned to look at the boy behind you, "Oh deary, you ended up in Knockturn Alley?" She looked up to Hagrid next, "Thank you, Hagrid, for getting him out of there."
Hagrid smiled and nodded, "It's no problem. Well! I better be off, I'll see you all at Hogwarts."
You all waved goodbye to Hagrid and began heading to Gringotts to get some money.
As you were walking, you heard Harry muttering to Hermione and Ron that he saw Draco and his father in Borgin & Burkes. You began thinking as to why the Malfoy's would be down Knockturn Alley of all places and furrow your brows before your thoughts quickly moved onto how much money you'll be needing to get out of your vault.
You enter Gringotts and take a glance at all of the Goblins doing desk work surrounding you. You walk up to the Goblin at the head of the hall. You tell him your name and ask if you could withdraw money from your vault. You walk with him and sit in a cart, unprepared for the ride you must endure.
Once everyone met back up outside of Gringotts, Molly stood at the head of the small crowd you all made up, "Alright then, you all should go and get your things, and make sure you meet back up at Flourish and Blotts in an hour to get your school books."
You smiled at her and informed Will to stay near Molly and Arthur since he could easily get swept away in the crowd with you.
You walk off and make a quick mental list of all the things you might need for this upcoming school year. 'Alright, I'm going to definitely need some new robes because I grew a few inches taller this summer... Some more quills and ink, I blasted through those last school year and now that I know what to expect I can prepare more... and definitely some food for Athena. I don't want her to think I'm starving her now.' You snicker to yourself at the last thought and quickly added school books to the mental list.
You gathered everything you needed into a single bag, saving the second one you have for the books you will be carrying.
You walked into Flourish and Blotts and noticed that you were the first one to get there. You checked the time and realized that you were 15 minutes earlier than everyone agreed to meet.
You shrug to yourself and make your way up to the store's upper floors to search for some casual books to read. You could already picture yourself curled up on the common room's leather couch reading peacefully next to the fireplace.
You look through shelf upon shelf of books, only finding a few that slightly piqued your interest. You rounded the corner to check the other side of the shelf you were currently skimming before seeing a familiar head of platinum blond hair down the small aisle.
Draco turns to look at you, hearing your footsteps round the corner, "What are you doing up here, L/n?"
You give him a confused look trying to make sure he's seriously asking you that question, "Are you dumb? It should be obvious that I'm shopping for books in a bookstore. What are you doing here?"
He looked as if he didn't know what to say until he finally mumbled, "Shopping for books."
"What a surprise, Malfoy. I didn't know you would be shopping for books while in a store that only sells books." You roll your eyes with heavy sarcasm.
He scoffs and looks back to the shelf he was previously skimming through and pulling out a book, "I meant, why are you here while I am? Are you stalking me or something?"
You give him an annoyed look, "Just because I'm here when you are doesn't mean I'm stalking you, Malfoy. It's just a coincidence, but you can think whatever you want to think."
He was about to snark back his response when you both turn, hearing Harry's name get mentioned downstairs. You look at each other for a moment, shrugged, and walked over to the balcony only to see Harry getting his picture taken with Gilderoy Lockheart. You can remember your Mum fawning over his books in the living room, and when you asked, she went on a tangent about his supposed amazingness.
You get annoyed by the fact that not only is he getting on the front page of The Daily Prophet, but he also gets free books to go along with it. 'He gets a lot of free things doesn't he... a free win for the house cup, a free Nimbus 2000, even free books that definitely aren't cheap.'
Your face doesn't betray your annoyance as you stare down at the scene below you. You hear Malfoy scoff next to you, apparently just as annoyed as you are. You see him strut down the stairs, ripping a page from the random book he picked up earlier.
'What? Why would he do that? There's was literally no reason for doing that other than to be dramatic.' You stare down at him, confused.
"Bet you loved that, didn't you, Potter? Famous Harry Potter. Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page." Draco sneered.
Ginny stood in front of Harry, "Leave him alone! He didn't want all that!"
You stare at her in embarrassment, 'Now why would she do that? That's kind of embarrassing....'
"Look, Potter. You've got yourself a girlfriend!"
Suddenly, a man you presume to be Draco's father silences Draco and begins talking with Harry, kind of creepily.
You see this happening stare at the exchange, only beginning to make your way down slowly to get closer to the action when you see Mr. Weasley get involved. You apparently got your mother's gossiping nature because of the sudden need to know what was going on.
In an instant, you could definitely say that you don't like Mr. Malfoy. He's kind of an arse, and you could definitely see where Draco gets his inspiration from.
Mr. Malfoy makes his dramatic exit with a, "See you at work."
Draco followed right behind him, mimicking, "See you at school, Potter."
You walk up to the cashier and buy the school books you needed along with the random book Draco ripped a page out of. You didn't want anyone to randomly pick up a book and get disappointed halfway through because of the missing page.
With everyone's shopping finally done, you met up with the Weasley's who were standing outside of Flourish and Blotts, and you headed back to the Burrow.
